This grant assisted refurbishment project was undertaken for a private company in the world heritage town of Blaenvon. The timescale of the project was dictated by the grant funding and required us to be extremely flexible in our programming.
A key aim of the project was to produce a luxury hotel and restaurant whilst also keeping in with the heritage of Blaenavon. The project required compliance with building regulations, fire regulations and planning conditions. The rooms were constructed to meet stringent sound-testing regulations as required for the luxury hotel. In keeping with the areas conservation status traditional single glazed timber windows, which were constructed in our very own joinery workshop, have been installed to the buildings facarde. Secondary glazing has been installed to the southern and eastern elevation windows to keep the building as warm and quiet as possible.
A key area of the hotel was its health suite which included a sauna, steam room, heated loungers and massage chair. These works were carried out with the help of specialist sub-contractors to ensure the highest quality.
